JBS Brazil Green Offices regularize 8,000 marginalised farms

The goal is to increase support for farms by 50% in 2024, with a focus on serving small producers. In its next phase, the program aims to help increase productivity.

JBS’ Green Offices program has achieved the milestone of 8,000 socio-environmental regularizations of farms in Brazil. In 2023 alone, the initiative accounted for a total of 4,000 farm regularizations and reached the milestone of 2,300 hectares designated for reforestation. In 2024, the company’s goal is to achieve 12,000 regularizations and prioritized service to small producers.

Of the 8,000 regularizations carried out, 47% are from small properties. Aiming to support small producers beyond solving environmental liabilities, at the end of last year JBS launched Green Offices 2.0. “Technology increases productivity, income, and makes production more sustainable,” says Liège Correia, Director of Sustainability at JBS Brazil. “With Green Offices 2.0, we will offer tools for producers to access regenerative production practices and integrated agroforestry systems,” she adds.

According to the executive, the Company adopted a strategy to tackle the problem of deforestation that goes beyond blocking producers who are not in compliance with the company’s purchasing policy. “We understand that the sectoral issue of deforestation will only be solved if we act jointly with ranchers and small producers, offering effective solutions and promoting technical assistance for those who wish to regularize. The results we are achieving with the Green Offices prove that this strategy is correct.” she states.
