JBS Australia partners with Energy360 to build turnkey biogas solutions

JBS Australia will capture emissions from wastewater treatment and create a renewable gas system for their Beef City, QLD and Scone, NSW sites.

Both projects will eliminate over 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually whilst saving over $2 million of natural gas usage. In addition to the renewable gas produced, Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) will also be generated by these projects. The Bioenergy Systems will also help future proof the company against volatile natural gas price rises for the next 10 years and will deliver on the GHG savings demanded by the market, generating more than 100TJ of renewable gas annually.

Sam Churchill, JBS Australia Group Manager Sustainability said “In Australia, JBS owns some of the largest and most technologically advanced production facilities located for best access to livestock. These bioenergy projects are just one way we are working toward meeting our net-zero goal by capturing wastewater emissions and switching to renewable energy sources in our facilities.
