JBS Global CEO praises resilience of team during COVID-19

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, JBS’ overwhelming priorities have been to protect our 240,000 team members; to maintain our commitment to producing quality food at the time when the world needs it most; and to stay committed to our customers, clients and suppliers.

Over the course of the pandemic, our investment in protective measures for team members and the local community has surpassed $400 million. Our sites have abided by strict safety protocols in accordance with local legislation and guidance, including the prompt incorporation of enhanced safety measures such as new personal protective equipment into the daily work routines. In several markets, this has included hiring additional team members to help educate the wider workforce and ensure full compliance with new Covid-19 guidelines and social distancing measures.

Our commitment to our local communities has also been reaffirmed through over $120 million of donations to help affected areas combat the coronavirus. Commenting on the company’s response to the pandemic on our recent Q2 results call, Gilberto Tomazoni, Global CEO of JBS, stated that “the speed of the response of our team in the face of this context was extraordinary. The ability to adapt, to change in the markets imposed by the change in consumer habits and buying pattern was unbelievable. This was only possible due to the expertise of our team, their autonomy and our culture of execution.”

“During a period of so many challenges, we have once again demonstrated our resilience. Our diversified geography and our protein production platform, our focus on health and safety of our workforce and our dedication of our team members around the world enabled JBS to face the challenge and the volatility that the pandemic imposed on all the companies worldwide.”
