JBS teams around the world play a role in keeping communities safe during COVID-19

Alongside the newly announced donation of $120m (£97.5m) JBS teams from around the world have rallied together and have been working to support those in local communities who are in need of food and PPE donations. Examples of our efforts include:

  • Our team from JBS Carriers is distributing cleaning and disinfectant products to help keep our drivers safe. The kits include a variety of materials that drivers can pick up at Carriers terminals located in Greeley in Colorado, Green Bay in Wisconsin, Cactus and Pittsburg in Texas and Oakwood, Georgia.
  • JBS has donated $2,500 to The Salvation Army-Gran Islan, Nebraska to help resupply their Food Pantry due to the increased volume of food request.
  • JBS Canada donated $50,000 in support of providing emergency food and services to the Brooks Food Bank in Alberta, Canada.
  • JBS donated refrigerated trailers to Weld Food Bank in Greeley, Colorado. As the Weld Food Bank’s refrigerator needed repairing, JBS donated four trailers to store their regular inventory of 56 pallets of frozen food for the next two months.
  • In Brazil, ‘Fazer o Bem Faz Bem’ has driven and executed a number of programs to donate supplies including PPE and hand sanitizer to those who need them the most across Brazil.
  • Notably, JBS donated Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to the governments of the cities of Forquilhinha, Nova Veneza, Criciúma and Maracajá, all located in the state of Santa Catarina, as well as to Hospital Sao Marcos, in Nova Veneza. The donation included scrub sets (pants and shirt), footwear (PVC boots and gaiters), covers and boxes with disposable gloves, masks, and disposable overalls. The PPE items were donated to professionals who provide cleaning services on streets and public places as well as to healthcare professionals.
  • In the city of Seara (SC), the Company donated items for prevention of COVID-19 to hospitals in the region. Approximately 10,000 items such as protective gloves, masks and disposable overalls were donated alongside cleaning materials, such as 50 litres of liquid soap and 60 litres of alcohol.
  • The company is also donating over 2 million soaps to impoverished communities in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro – states with the highest number of people impacted by COVID-19 – as well as to elderly care facilities in several Brazilian regions. The soaps are manufactured by JBS Higiene e Limpeza and will also be delivered to the company’s 120,000 Team Members throughout Brazil. Kits including alcohol gel, sanitizers and liquid soap were also delivered to indigenous villages in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
